The Tree Root Rice Mortar is an authentic piece of kitchen equipment reflects the way that everyday life is lived in villages. It's a traditional piece that is used as a pestle and mortar. The villagers grind the rice inside to a powder and then use it for baking and cooking.

Originally crafted by artisans from the hard wearing root of the teak tree, it can be used for so many different purposes. It looks amazing with trailing plants or beautiful flowers, or just as an original sculptural piece of root teak. 

Being reclaimed from teak roots, each piece is slightly different, making each one UNIQUE.

Variations to product

Each product is handcrafted from reclaimed teak wood by talented tradespeople, so each product size, shape, wood colouration and finish may vary slightly.


Aftercare Instructions

Teak requires very little maintenance apart from the occasional scrub. A mild solution of soapy water or a diluted mixture of something like Marine SimpleGreen® and water will remove accumulated dirt. This should be followed by a rinse with clean water. To remove grease spots, a light scrub with a de-greasing agent is recommended.
